"Lowly as support for the lofty" is an inherent believe of the Indian traditional worldview and one of the bases of the concept Ahimsa, an idea that has played a central role in my recent works. Ahimsa, non-violence, is applied not only towards human beings, but to all nature - to respect even a fly. The first time I read about this concept I became overwhelmed by such a thought, and my immediate response was to draw cents of flies, mosquitoes and all kind of insects found dead and collected in a notebook. It was a kind of analogy with this meticulous and comprehensive persistent preoccupation. The care and devotion to nature imply its thorough observation, so the detail of the drawings was significant. I use Indian ink and I sew, using the thread either to connect or to separate.
